What is this hose?

Postby jamesgreenberg » Wed Jan 24, 2018 9:01 pm

Hey All,
Right off, forgive my ignorance. I know about a lot of things but the inner workings of my 1982 fiat spider 2000 is not one of them. So can anyone tell me what this hose is. It was leaking and I'm wondering if the gas spell I've noticed is coming from there. Can I just disconnect the hose, get a replacement at a parts store and replace myself, or do I need a special part with that specific configuration? Anything else I need to do? Thanks for your help.

To post a picture you have to put the image url between the img brackets, but that image has to be hosted on a photo hosting site.

The end result will look something like this.

Thanks. I actually spent about an hour trying to make that work after putting the photo on Drop Box and Photobucket. I wasn't able to move it. Any thoughts?

Is it okay to take it off and just replace or does that destroy the vacuum?

The vacuum only exists when the engine is running, pull and replace no problem.

Great, thanks so much for your help. Is there any reason I need to get the real fiat hose or will something comparable from any parts store be OK? Really appreciate your help. Now all I have to do is figure out where the gas smell is coming from.

As long you have tight fit. And near that hose you have input and return rubber gas line that connect to steel line.

Use any "Vacuum" hose, made for the application. Soft rubber hose will just collapse under the vacuum.

Is there a trick to getting the hose off? I was able to do it fairly easily on the top but the bottom is hard to reach and I don't want to yank on it too much. And then is there a technique for getting it back on?
