Keeping it sharp - paint, wax, detailing, etc.

Tubular manifold finish recommendations

Postby maxdog » Tue Mar 21, 2017 5:37 pm

Hi
Any thoughts on a durable finish for a carbon steel tubular manifold ? High temperature paint , powder coating, wrapping with heat resistant tape , etc ??

I am presuming this is an exhaust manifold/header.
As such I had my exhaust manifold coated with high temperature ceramic coating at a company near me. They stripped and coated inside and out for about $120 and tool 2 days. Looks so good. No idea if it helps with temperature but the old one was ugly and rusty.

Check out Eastwood too, they have all sorts of stuff for finishing high temp parts.

don't wrap it! Coat it with a ceramic coating inside and out. Hushmat has a new coating out, but it's more expensive than ceramic coating

I got a quote from JetHot to ceramic coat a OEM 2L exhaust manifold. Quote came in a $430...
