Sagging driver's seat , cheap fix

Postby maxdog » Sat Nov 18, 2017 11:50 pm

My driver's seat cushion was sagging badly because the webbing suspension strap across the seat base had disintegrated . The foam rubber cushion was still in good shape so I tried to find a replacement for the strap . .The only rubber webbing I could find was not strong enough . I replaced it with 3 inch wide wooden slats made from 1/4 inch ply . I used two slats across the seat bottom supported on three sides by the base with a third slat running fore and aft across the mid point of the base .
I now have a firm driver's seat base cushion.

My system allows you to fix the seat base without dismantling the seat . I managed to wiggle the 10 1/2 inch long x 3 inch wide 1/4 inch thick plywood strips into place through the hole in the base . Seat fixed at zero cost !
Cheers
