Seat covers for hot seats.

Postby Texsardo » Mon Jun 26, 2017 7:11 pm

 Any ideas where to buy seat cover "slips" that will actually fit over original black, butt burners. Our summer in North Idaho ain't long but it is bright and beautiful. Top always down but tired of 2° burns when it has been in sun for 30 mins. Bought some from EBay and Amazon that proclaims they fit but are saggy, wrinkled excuses.
Don't want to pay $100 for some hand made cotton from Norway or such. Surely someone can give a source that look good and not detract from my renewed great looking interior. 1978 1/2

I use an air cushion. It is spring wire covered with some kind of wicker material. It keeps your butt from getting burned when car sets in the sun and also allows air to flow through the cushion as you drive keeping you cool. It has a strap that slips over the back to keep it in place. When not needing it I just put it behind the seat. I got mine at Walmart several years ago but I don't think they sell them anymore but I have seen them online.

Thanks but looking for covers that stay on for now. I have something like yours but need for back also as because heat through t-shirt is hot also. I'm using a picnic blanket for now but one day I will come out of the store and it will be gone.

I have a temporary cover that was purchased at a defunct bicycle mail order supplier. The material is white terry with a vinyl backing. Designed to keep sweat off your car seat following a ride. Two string ties; one goes around the headrest/seat back junction, the other at the seat back/seat cushion area. I've not seen it advertised elsewhere for years, buy you could make one easily. I'll bet a local fabric store has such material, and you could customize it for a perfect Spider fit (and maybe sell a few here 8) ).

This is the closest thing I've seen recently:

I want the covers to blend in and not detract from the new interior. I would need to take the suggested items off and put in trunk while out of car. Really looking for the slip ones that might fit. Maybe color scheme blk/red.

Black is the color that absorbs the most heat. Red absorbs the second-most. Maybe a complimentary color would be a better choice.

Nice idea. Any suggestions on complimentary color. Car is of course red with black top.

So I guess a towel underneath a large tee shirt is out of the question. I've done that.
Or don't drive between 8 AM and 8PM.

Had the same problem for years. Just leave a color coordinated towel in the car. Tuck in under the head rest and around the seat. Just put it on when you leave the car. Other option, park with the sun coming from the back of the car and tilt your seats forward when you park. Have tan seats now, they still need to be covered.
