I'm kind of guessing so--I may go ahead and do that anyway since I have the replacement parts on hand already from some transmission work I had planned...not sure how soon I'll get to this, but if I do--I'll snap as many photos as possible...I wish I had a lift.

Hi Opamp

you don't need to take the quibo or the driveshaft out to replace the transmission support rubber.
But you do need enough height to get to the bolts. make sure your gearbox is in neutral and you have an offset ratchet wrench 17mm I believe. you can then undo each bolt head and turn the shaft to get to the next one, remember the support only goes on one way (it has a long ear and a short ear) make sure you take before photos so you can remember how it goes back together.

Brilliant--I think you've probably just saved me hours of frustration with these three sentences! I'll report back when I get into this fix.

As I recall, the mount first is installed onto the cross member given the design of the cross member, then set in place.

I put a jack under the trans, you have a bit of play. I do remember having to muscle up to get it all in place, but then it went pretty easily. I think I used a ratcheting box end; they have enough offset to get to the nuts. Although I have done so much since, it is hard to remember.

Well, you could slide it up in place. But I was missing a bolt, nut and sleeve on the crossmember to mount. And I was then able to clean and repaint. If yours looks good, could just do the mount. Again easy to forget when a lot has been done.

For anyone interested, I did this job earlier in the week. I was able to change the rear mount without removing the drive shaft, but I did have a heck of a time getting it off. In fact, since the rubber was already dead and gooey, I ended up cutting through the old mount in order to remove that bottom bracket and make enough room to get a wrench in there. PITA!!!! I tell you!

It would help to remove what I think is probably the switch for reverse. Mine wouldn't budge, so it made the whole ordeal a drag.

Once I got the old one out, the new mount went in quickly.

you get to know these cars very well as we go along.

Great tips. Quick question...in the photo above are there supposed to be any bushings, rubber washers or the like between the cross memeber and the body? Seems like there should be but we didn't have any when we removed ours. Thanks

Nah. At least there weren't any when I took mine off. Washers on the underside of the bracket, but nothing btwn the bracket and the body.

... U guess they figured the rubber incorporated into the mount was enough??

There are supposed to be rubber grommets with spacers that fit in the holes used to bolt the transmission mount to the body.

If there are, there weren't any on mine. And given the look of the gooey rubber on the mount, I am guessing original.
Not sure what the manual says since I didn;t use it for this job.
