Interior re-trim for 1979 fiat 124 spider CS

Postby plout4768 » Sat Sep 14, 2013 9:57 am

Hi,
Eventually managed to get some photos of my restoration onto my first post!
My car is almost complete and externally is looking excellent, glad I got it repainted with original colour from paint code tag. Next step will be to upgrade the interior, it is in quite good nick but the seats need re-trimmed as they are a bit grubby. Apart from spider point Germany I am struggling to find anywhere in Britain who specialises in this. I live in Fife, Scotland. Any advice would be appreciated.

I think that alot of people have had good luck with independent upholstery shops. Don't forget that alot of boat shops have excellent craftsmen that can redo a stock seat or refinish in custom materials. I am going with Spiderpoints custom leather on my car, it is expensive but it comes with everything,,,leather seat covers, panels, dash, both center consoles and carpet. Good luck, and that is a beautiful color car!!!

I would look for someone ( if going the non-kit route) that specializes in antique auto upholstery. All upholstery shops are not created equal, particularly the boat guys who do alot of plain flat cushions and canvas awnings. They have no concept of hog rings and listings. Ask me how I know
