Wonder where one gets a replacement. The bare metal is uncomfortable. Maybe I'll make wooden ones to go with that wooden dash/console/door inserts set I plan on making some day.

Post a wanted ad here, or try John Erskine "spiderparts". I think that is where I found the one I needed.

So, I came back to the seat pan after spraying it with rust converter and I was less than pleased. If anything it looked worse. In defense of the chemicals, it had been extremely humid the past few days.

After getting over my initial discouragement, I decided to have another go at it since I still had some in the can. So I gave it a second dosage. The next day it looked much better:

Encouraged, and a bit impatient, I took the next step. Having decided to try bedliner on it, I scuffed it just like it says on the side of the can:

And I thought I had one of those lucid moments in which I did something brilliant when I put the bolts into the screwholes to keep the bedliner from clogging the threads. I post it here in hopes that someone else finds it to be a useful tip. That is certainly one reason I come to the forum.

And with that, I sprayed on the truck bedliner, let it dry a day or so, and hit it with a second coat.
I am very pleased with the results:
