RPM gauge issues

Postby sergio1977 » Tue Aug 01, 2017 10:45 am

I have a 1977 spider with dual points, in the last few days my RPM gauge is going crazy, fluctuating from 0 to 4000 rpm while driving 70 MPH. Car runs great no firing issues just the RPM gauge going crazy.
As per your opinions where should I start looking? Does RPM gauge works with the points or with the alternator.

Thank you

If the car is running fine, your gauge is probably going bad. Mine did that and got progressively worse in a very short period of time. Replaced the tach and all was fine.
