Any info on a DIY fuel vapor canister rebuild?
Cutting it open location....top or bottom?
rebuilding - refilling supplies?

There's a spring mechanism in the top. I think the simplest thing would be to cut/drill a hole in the side. Wouldn't need to be too large to pour out the charcoal.

That is just what I was thinking of doing. Thanks for the info on the location of the spring

http://www.fiatspider.com/f15/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=18065 for a look inside. The hole in the side sounds promising. Let us know how you make out.

I remember seeing a picture where someone cut off the top - like opening a can. There was a spring that I suppose holds the charcoal down (?) and it seemed like it might be tricky to reassemble.

I cut off the top at the seam.
remove all inners.
replaced the charcoal with fish tank filter charcoal.
replace the foam fillers with sponge material.
Now glue is drying for refastening the top to the canister.
Then I will wrap the seam area with Flex Tape.
