hoses to gas tank

Postby PaulC » Tue Nov 07, 2017 9:40 pm

Just received our '79 Spider 2000 project car. Doesn't look too bad actually. Needs the usual interior and exterior freshening up.
But to my question: the seller said it wouldn't start unless you used starting fluid and then it wouldn't keep running.
Went to see what was up and noted the gas gauge was on empty and thought that was maybe that was the issue. So I started to fill the gas tank and the gas just poured out onto the floor. Seems like the hose from the filler to the tank wasn't secured properly, but on further investigation found all the hoses to the gas tank were disconnected.
Now I see three small hoses in a line and one larger on which seem to fit the nipples on the tank but there's one small one left over. What's that for? I presume it's supposed to be connected somewhere. :?:

I found this on another post (location of one way check valve). I think those three go to the vapor lines and a canister...

I guess I did not read correctly you first post? I just read the 2000 spider part. yes it is a filter for the fuel line. I found a different diagram for a 79 fuel line setup see if this helps you.
