differential

Probably dumb question. 1979 2000
I have not done anything with the rear axles. only replaced rear brakes: calipers, flex lines, etc.
while getting everything back together. noticing the rear wheels can spin even when in gear; drive shaft does not move.
never touched the diffy; just jacked up a couple times. how could something happen when never touched the axles, only replaced the oil.
getting ready to it all going and this is just curious to me.

Pretty sure this is the correct operation of a differential.
